#CatmasEve 2020 Sekurity Team

Don't forget @GeorgetheDuck's #CatmasEve pawty on Thursday Dec. 24th. DJs, Bartenders, and real-world pwizes! You can read about it on George's CatmasEve Bloggy.

But wait, I ALWAYS forget Sekurity! Let's talk about them a bit.

As always, #CatmasEve uses Snick's Sekurity Team, which is now managed by @Ben_da_Bestie.

A Bit of History

Snick the Dog started as Head Bouncer with #pawpawty on twitter in June, 2009.
Snick moved to Sekurity Team Headquarters in 2010.
Snick retired in 2011.
@Brutusthedane became the new leader of the Sekurity team.
Since then the team has passed to @terenceterrier, and now to @Ben_da_Bestie.

Why do we have sekurity?

  • To tweet the donation link every now and then
  • To explain to newcomers what the pawty is and help answer questions
  • To report hashtag spam

Catless

Map showing Catless, Northumberland, UK
https://streetmap.co.uk: Catless in Northumberland

There is a place in Northumberland, UK called Catless. This doesn't mean there are no cats there. The name actually means "the place where you find cats" as it derives from the name "Cat Leas". The cats referred to would be the native wildcat of Northern England, the Scottish Wildcat, Felis silvestris silvestris syn. Felis silvestris grampia.

According to Wikipedia,
The Scottish wildcat differs from a domestic cat by its heavier, more robust skull and longer limb-bones. It is also larger in body size, but with a shorter gastrointestinal tract. Its fur is distinctly solid-striped with a tabby patterning. It has a bushy, ringed tail that is black at the tip, blunt, and without stripes. It does not have any white markings like a domestic cat, neither stripes on the cheeks and hind legs, nor spotted undersides or coloured backs of ears.

Tools: Automagically Tweet New Bloggy Posts

Purrr You may have noticed that when I post to different blogs it automatically tweets the title and link. Here are some apps I use, in no particular order.

  • Feedburner grabs the rss feed from ANY site that offers rss or atom feeds. Best part is you don't have to log in as it's part of google. Feedburner provides options for readers to subscribe to your site, i.e. get email notifications, and it provides limited options for automatically sharing on social media. I use it for
    #chilipawty
    @OwentheTonk's Black Paw
    Adventures of Toby Baboon
    Call Me the Breeze
    MiniBreeze Visitz!
Put Your Paws In Da Air!
  • dlvr.it Grabs the rss feed and shares it to a wider assortment of social networks than Feedburner. The free version is great for personal use. 1 user, post to 2 different social media sites from 3 blogs. I currently post to twitter and my facebook page from the following blogs.
    #ChiliPawty Blog
    Call Me the Breeze
Put Your Paws In Da Air
  • IFTTT is a free platform that helps all your products and services work better together. There are hundreds of widgets that do everything from tweeting rss feed items to sending news to your android phone. (I am not presently using it for personal accounts.)

She Wanted Her Beloved Cat Not To Be Forgotten.

Mathieu Stern: Developing 120-Year-Old Photos found in a Time Capsule

Purrr A Parisian experimental photographer named Mathieu Stern found some very old photo negatives and developed them. 120 years ago people just didn't have cameras. These photos were - this kitty was extra special!

After Mathieu developed the photo he colorized it.

Follow Mathieu Stern on Twitter. Visit his web page to see how he works his magic!

I love it and I think you will too.

Dressing Up As @Georgetheduck

Purrr #nipclub celebrated @Georgetheduck's birthday this week. I couldn't find my George av, but I was able to find his George-the-duck scenario on Face-In-Hole.
